Antica Trattoria
Sanesi
As you drive down the Firenze-Pisa Superstrada
and exit at Lastra a Signa, you will find
the Antica Trattoria Sanesi. Modest on the
outside, but with immense interiors, this
great Trattoria is located on Via Arione,
33, in Signa. With appealing décor,
the Antica Trattoria Sanesi is an old style
trattoria and almost always crowded. Filled
to overflowing with tourists and the locals,
the trattoria serves traditional and sensational
dishes.
With an exciting menu, the Antica Trattoria
Sanesi takes you on a wild culinary journey
to bring out the secret delectable tastes
of Tuscany. The trattoria serves up a wonderful
Crostini and pasta ragu. With an unusual
touch, the Ristorante ushers in the fresh
seasonal produce of the amazing countryside
with Pasta and black truffles, pasta with
wild rabbit, Lombata de Vitello (veal chop)
and roast beef. Some of the side dishes
include delicious fried potatoes and zuccini
blossoms. But what takes the cake or rather
the piece de resistance, is the awesome
Bistecca alla Florentina that the trattoria
is famous for. As the Trattoria’s
signature dish, the Florentine steaks are
beautifully displayed with a big porcino
mushroom cap and are tender and amazing.
Some of the guests swear that this dish
tastes best here than anywhere in the world!
Bistecca alla Florentina is a porterhouse
cut with the word ‘Bistecca’
derived from the English ‘Beef Steak’.
The rich English residents of Florence introduced
this dish in the 1800s. Bistecca alla Florentina
is made from the meat of the Vacca Chianina
(pronounced Kee-a-nee-na), that are a big
white breed of cattle named after the Chiana
valley from they originate. The Chianina
cattle were used to pull carts and for agricultural
work. But it was discovered that their meat
was tasty and tender. The inhabitants of
Florence are proud to present this fantastic
dish and add it to their culinary repertoire
as one of the ultimate gastronomical delights.
The house wine and the complementary grappa
at the Antica Trattoria Sanesi is a satisfying
experience besides their traditional culinary
range.
